    The Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival is a historical cultural tourism festival held every year in Suwon Hwaseong, which is built based on the Hyo -sim of King Jeongjo and the dream of the riches. It is Korea's representative global festival that can feel the cultural contents that have been reinterpreted modernly for five days in Suwon among the cemetery.

The signature performance inspired by Nakseongyeon, a banquet held by King Jeongjo to celebrate the construction of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress. This traditional Korean opera highlights the lives of the different people involved in the construction of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress by employing a variety of traditional and modern techniques, including traditional singing, dancing and theatrical storytelling, and digital images and videos.

This pansori storytelling performance highlights the significance of Jinchanyeon, the 60th birthday banquet of Lady Haegyeong of the Pungsan Hong clan, the mother of King Jeongjo, and illustrates Jeongjo’s filial piety toward his mother through the story of a woman employed at the Suragan, the royal kitchen responsible preparing food for the banquet, and a bobusang peddler.

This collective giant mural-painting event is open to public participation. In 2023, citizens were invited to work together on a giant painting on the street surface based on the motif of Bongsudang Jinchando, a part of the “Painting of the Royal Parade to Hwaseong Fortress.”

In a large-scale interview, Suwon citizens were asked about quotes from Ildeungnok, a collection of quotations by King Jeongjo, and a documentary has been produced based on the interview. The documentary will be screened on a large screen set up in the Hwaseong Haenggung Temporary Palace Plaza.

A type of sun canopy, called a Yongbong cha-il, was used to protect King Jeongjo from sunlight during his procession. Inspired by the royal canopy, this signature sculpture symbolizing the Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival is designed to cover the royal path at the center of the Hwaseong Haenggung Temporary Palace Plaza up in the air.
